SAVE THE DATE: ALL-CHIEFS MEETING ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
Wednesday, September 9th & Thursday, September 10th, 2026 xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Territories Hybrid
This two-day All-Chiefs Meeting will bring First Nations leaders from across B.C. together to support the exercise of First Nations jurisdiction over the care of their children and families. The meeting will provide an opportunity to share lessons learned that will help inform Canada’s five-year review of An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families. It will also provide a space to strengthen collective approaches and discuss other priorities that support the well-being and self-determination of First Nations children, families, and communities across B.C.
Who is it for? One Chief or appointed leader and one Councillor or technician from each First Nation community in B.C. are invited to attend this event in person.
Travel and accommodation expenses for these delegates will be covered by the First Nations Leadership Council. Travel and accommodation will also be provided for a limited number of youth participants.
Stay tuned for a more detailed invitation to the All-Chiefs Meeting on Children and Families in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please hold the dates in your calendar!
Thank you,
First Nations Leadership Council
