FNLC 2026 BC Provincial Elections Package

October 21, 2026

Dear BC First Nations Chiefs and Leaders,

The upcoming 2026 provincial snap election comes at a pivotal, and unexpected moment. The outcome of this election can be greatly influenced by First Nations voters, who we deeply encourage to have their voices heard at the ballot box. The First Nations Leadership Council (FNLC) remains committed to working with the government of the day to drive tangible change for our children, families, and communities.

It is crucial that we collectively encourage First Nations citizens to vote on October 24th, as with the previous election, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act and government-government relationships between First Nations and the provincial government are serious considerations in this election, as well as everyday concerns that disproportionately affect First Nations such as access to healthcare, cost of living, public safety, and the housing crisis.

To assist with your community’s participation in the 2026 provincial election, the FNLC has compiled the attached 2026 Provincial Election Package.

The FNLC’s 2026 Election Package is being provided to all 204 First Nations communities in BC and includes:

  • Questions posed to the Conservative Party of BC, BC Greens, BC NDP, and Centre BC.
  • Responses from the parties; and
  • Basic voting information related to the 2026 Provincial Election.

It is important to note that given the compressed timeline of this snap election, FNLC was unable to provide as much notice to parties as in previous years, and as such, we only received responses from the Conservative Party of BC and the BC NDP. If Centre BC and the BC Greens provide responses ahead of election day, we will share these separately.

We encourage further distribution of this information to your community members, please note we also encourage each community to pose questions directly to your respective riding candidates, time permitting.

If you have any questions, please contact Colin Braker, Executive Director, FNS at cbraker@fns.bc.ca.

Sincerely,

FIRST NATIONS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
